The Association’s biennial three-day Conference was held at the Parklands Resort and Conference Centre from June 21 to 23 last year.
“A successful 2013 NSW RFS Association conference was vital as we had made the decision to change it from a yearly event to once every two years,” RFSA Chief Executive Officer Bernard Cox said.
“Our focus was on staging a professional event that provided major educational benefits for our delegates and one that also created a lasting impact.
RFSA Conference 2013 attracted over 500 participants including association members (volunteers and staff of the NSW RFS), interstate volunteer rural fire fighters, sponsors, exhibitors and speakers.
The Conference theme reflected four attributes intrinsic to the Association; Recognise, Foster, Support and Achieve.
During the conference participants attended three social events along with a quality program and exhibition.
The Conference attained high profile speakers including well known journalist George Negus, a leading expert on volunteer management and recruitment, Dr Judy Esmond, RFS Commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM, and the Hon. Michael Gallacher, Minister for Police and Emergency Services.
The RFSA Exhibition provided an impressive dimension to the Conference and included an indoor exhibition at the venue , which was held in a purpose built marquee to extend the venue.
An outdoor exhibition which included fire appliances, live fire demonstrations, an RFS basecamp and helicopter was also set up.
