Brothers3 received their wish on Tuesday night, with a performance of a One Direction song sending them through to home visits with coach Danni Minogue.
Another standing ovation greeted siblings Shardyn, Tayzin and Makirum Fahey-Leigh after their country-fied performance of Story of My Life during the final days of boot camp was broadcast nation-wide on Tuesday night.
In an interview with the Mudgee Guardian earlier in the month, Brothers3 said making it through to home visits would be “amazing” and more then they could hope for.
Youngest member Makirum said it was the brothers’ goal to make it through to home visits and now that they had, they were focused on giving the best performances they could to make it through to the live shows.
“It’s going to be really exciting, a lot of hard work yes, but it’s going to be really fun to be a part of."
“It’s going to be really exciting, a lot of hard work yes, but it’s going to be really fun to be a part of,” he said.
Makirum said they were pretty happy to be given One Direction’s Story of My Life as it was a song the brothers really loved and knew how to perform. And perform Brothers3 did, receiving a standing ovation from both the judges and the audience.
“I can’t describe what that meant for us. As performers our goal is to get that sort of reaction out of the crowd so it was really overwhelming when it happened,” he said.
With 24 hours between the final boot camp performance and the judges’ decision, Makirum said it was a sleepless night for the brothers as the nerves and excitement set in.
“I was really confident that we’d get in but I was so full of energy that I just couldn’t sleep, none of us were. We were in the second half of the groups to be called and when Danni said our name I think Shardyn just collapsed in happiness. It was the best feeling in the world,” he said.
After making it through the reality music show version of a muddy obstacle course, Brothers3 are set to jet off to places unknown with Ms Minogue for music workshops with mentors James Blunt and Jessica Mauboy.
If they make it through home visits into the top three, it will be up to the residents of the Mid-Western region to make sure Brothers3 go as far as possible during the top 12 live performances by voting after each performance.
“Thank you to everyone at home for the support and fingers crossed we get through,” Makirum said.
X-Factor Australia will return to televisions screens on Sunday, August 3 from 6.30pm.
