Mudgee will play host to the Central West Regional Alpaca Show this weekend, with some of the finest breeders and wool producers from across the state gathering at AREC on Saturday.

The Alpaca Show will take place from 9am on Saturday, August 2, at the Australian Rural Education Centre (AREC) and organiser Dinah Fisher of Greyleaves Alpacas said she was looking forward to an event likely to top 2013.
“We have about 200 entries from 39 exhibitors,” she said.
“Renowned judges Natasha Clark (Victoria) and Chris Williams (South Australia) will be in attendance and they are at the forefront of the alpaca industry.”
Vice-president of the Australian Alpaca Association, Mrs Fisher said the alpaca industry is one continuing to grow throughout the country with alpaca genetics being exported to the United Kingdom, Europe, New Zealand, and Turkey. She said there was international demand for wool and an emerging alpaca meat market.
Mrs Fisher said there would be plenty of local input with a number of local studs showing and the crafts people, who will be conducting demonstrations in spinning and weaving.
She encouraged the community to come along and learn as well as view some of the finest alpacas in the state.
This year’s show will also feature the popular fashion parade, organised by Australian Alpaca Barn who own stores in Morpeth, Polkobin and The Rocks. The fashion parades will be held at 12.30pm and 2.30pm in the Founders Pavilion.
