Aquarius owner Ed Turner donated all takings from Sunday, November 9, to the Auxiliary on Wednesday, in order to help them purchase much needed equipment and supplies for the hospital and its wards.
“I’d like to thank our customers for supporting the event and the volunteers from the Mudgee Hospital Auxillary who braved the heat the help make the day a success. I’d also like to thank the businesses that supported the event, Coates Hire, Double R, AK Constructions, LSR , Ed Turner Business Solutions and Fairfax Media who also helped raise a further $111,” Mr Turner said.
Auxiliary president Glenys Goodfellow said the money from Mr Turner would be put towards purchasing the last thing on the hospital’s wish list for 2014.
“Everything else has either been purchased or approved to be purchased. The last thing the hospital has asked us to raise money for is a Video Cysto Urethroscope which will enable surgeons to perform cystoscopy’s under local anesthetic in Mudgee,” she said.
“We’re all but wiped out this year’s list for the hospital and it’s just wonderful that Ed has been committed to helping us out as he has.”
Mrs Goodfellow said members of the Hospital Auxiliary were present on the day to help out with collection tins, and thanked everyone who came by to get their car washed and help out a good cause.
“It was extremely hot but extremely well supported. People were very generous throughout the day, donating money and buying drinks and something from the sausage sizzle. It was absolutely excellent,” she said.
Mr Turner donated $1800 to the Auxiliary in March this year to help the Auxillary with another equipment purchase, and will continue to help raise funds for the local organisation at future charity car wash days.
“I generally aim to run two charity wash days a year in Spring and Autumn to raise funds for local charity organisations, I think its great to be able to give back into the community and support the people who support Aquarius Carwash, its such a great win-win for everyone,” Mr Turner said.
