Daniel David Batty of Cameron Street, Mudgee, was charged with ‘Possess false document to obtain financial advantage’ and ‘Dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception’.
Between 4.30pm and 5pm on Friday, February 14, 2014, a number of items, including an ANZ cheque book, were stolen from a Mudgee property.
At about 11.30am on Monday, February 17, 2014, Batty went to the Mudgee ANZ branch and attempted to cash one of the cheques for $410.
The transaction couldn’t be finalised because there was no signature from the victim on the cheque.
When informed of this Batty left the bank.
Police later viewed CCTV footage from the branch which clearly showed him and he was charged.
