This year’s beneficiaries are the Mudgee District Hospital Maternity Unit and Mudgee PCYC.
Rainbow Day 2015 will take place on Thursday, September 17.
It will kick off with several road blocks to collect donations from passing motorists in the morning, followed by the fete firstly for students from the local primary schools then for MHS students, and the Year 12 concert in the afternoon.
But before there will be a “monster raffle” featuring items donated by local businesses, which will be run in the coming weeks.
At the school assembly on Wednesday Peabody Wilpinjong Environment and Community Manager, Kieren Bennetts, said they wanted to donate to the fundraising because “we see the benefit of Mudgee High School students in the community”.
“We’d like to make the donation to Mudgee High, Rainbow Day and its beneficiaries, and the reason we would like to recognise this cause is for the effort that you guys put in,” he said.
“Not only to your school work but also to the community, we see the positive benefit of Rainbow Day which has come a long way from the old Muck Up Day.”
On accepting the donation Ben Reinhard from Year 12 said, “we’d like to thank them for this exceptional donation, it means a massive amount to our fundraising and shows they really appreciate Mudgee High’s fundraising influence”.
