“To start with it was a bit scary but I got better along the way as I got more enthusiastic about it,” Jarrod said.
Jarrod said his Max Potential journey started because he thought the experience would be something different than he was used to and he was glad it was something he had stuck with and finished.
Jarrod and coach Natalie McLean have spent the past 22 weeks working towards Jarrod’s two goals – to have a better relationship with his father, and to work towards getting a job.
“I haven’t got the job yet but I’ve put in a few resumes and I’m going to drop some more in tomorrow so I’m working on it,” Jarrod said.
“As for my dad, I’ve been working on not having as much of an attitude and I think we’re getting better.”
While working on his goals, Jarrod used Max Potential MAXIMISERS make things happen and internalise right principles to make sure he was on the right track.
“As well as being the one’s I needed to work on from the profile, they were things that really spoke to me,” he said.
Jarrod’s community service project saw him become the teacher and not the student as he spoke about the RSCPCA to interested year one students at Mudgee Public School.
“He was really patient with everyone and quite happy to answer their questions and listen to them speak. It was really great to see,” Natalie said.
Jarrod said he focused mostly on animal welfare because it was something he was passionate about. It was through this passion – and everything he’d learnt through Max Potential – that he was able to get up in fornt of the class and speak about the topic. Something that used to make him extremely nervous.
“It was just a lot easier than it used to be, mostly because I was so confident,” he said.
After the talk, Jarrod said there was a colouring in sheet and a question and answer session.
Jarrod completed his Max Potential journey at the Max Potential Showcase on Thursday night and said he was really excited to be showing off everything he’d done through Max Potential.
