Rapid Plumbing and Gas took on McDonald Lawson in the top of the table clash.
Both teams have met in the previous two women’s open deciders with a win apiece, and although silverware was not up for grabs this time around, bragging rights and top spot were.
The two were missing a few of their players but it did not stop them for putting on a show.
McDonald Lawson got the chocolates 7-6 courtesy of a Louise Thomas touchdown with less than 20 seconds on the clock.
It was close throughout the match with the teams exchanging touchdowns.
Rapid Plumbing and Gas got out to a 4-2 lead at half-time but McDonald Lawson managed to fight back early in the second to level the scores.
Liz O’Brien was proving elusive for Rapid as was Sally Harris for McDonald Lawson.
The duo orchestrated the attack for their respective sides.
McDonald Lawson hit the lead at 6-5 before Rapid levelled the scores with a couple of minutes remaining.
With not long to go, Harris ran from half and linked up with Thomas whom planted the ball down over the scoreline for the win.
Next week’s touch will only be held on Tuesday with the junior and mixed competitions having a general bye on Thursday due to the State Cup.
