The one-day air show always showcases a wide variety of vehicles from around the Mudgee region and further afield, along with a hangar full of local wines.
The airport lawn and the grass alongside the runway were filled with patrons keeping their eyes on the sky to see stunts and formation flying.
Airshow attendees and local school students Connor and Bridget Rae said Paul Bennett’s aerobatic display was one of the highlights of the day, including such tricks as freefalling and hovering by using the plane’s propeller like a helicopter’s.
Bridget said another highlight was the demonstration of firefighting techniques by helicopters lifting and dumping loads of water.
Firefighting vehicles were also on display, along with a huge array of vintage cars.
Some of the oldest cars were vehicles from 1908 and 1910 owned by members of the local club.
Plenty of planes were parked around the field, including a Savannah, two planes brought by Angel Flight, Fleet Helicopters’ pink firefighting helicopter and the Wings4Kidz plane that will transport sick children from rural areas to major hospitals.
The Royal Flying Doctors brought a recreation of one of their planes, allowing visitors to walk through and see the facilities, while nearby children were able to take up a remote control and operate the motor of a model jet.
Cooyal bushfire brigade and Saint John’s Anglican Church provided barbecue lunches, along with the wood fired pizza man.
Other exhibitors offered a range of items to take home including lollies, soaps and honey.
