Camilla’s father, Joe Dolanski, died of cancer just a few months before Rebbecca lost her mother, Pam Stoddart.
“Being best friends, it really bought us a lot closer to share such a personal thing,” Camilla said.
“We kind of knew what each of us was going through so we held each other up.
“Relay for Life is something we are passionate about because although we lost our parents to cancer, we have hope and faith that a cure will be found and to say we played the slightest part in that means the world.
“Our friends Kimmy and Michelle have been there every step of the way also to support us, which is so admirable because Michelle herself is battling a rare form of cancer, Digital Papillary Adenocarcinoma.”
"Our team is made up of friends and family, who have all been affected by cancer in some way. Together we will remember the ones we have lost, the ones currently fighting and fight back"
“Relay means the world to me,” Michelle said. “It gives me a chance to fight for a cure and hope no one has to go through the same thing as what I am.”
The ‘Eff You Cancer’ team will be doing a few things at relay to raise funds which include a barbecue, guessing competition and selling raffle tickets.
Prizes include two VIP tickets to Nitro Circus, with a face-to- face meeting with Travis Pastrana, Steve Mini, Blake “Bilko” Williams, Josh Sheehan and many more and private viewing of practice before the show; male and female Lean Supplement Packages, plus $25 voucher to use in store from Elite Health Supplements, a YOR health pack; $60 voucher to Bella Medi Spa; an angle grinder from Power Tool Plus, hair colouring from Narelles on Barlow, a $50 voucher from the Yoga Spot and dinner for two at Soho On Darby.
The team will also have a road side pit stop set up in front of the Tennis Courts on Church Street, and are asking drivers to pull over and make a donation to the Cancer Council.
