The Wolves firsts defeated Collegians 3-0, with goals scored by Aiden Young, Josh Sandry and Matt Johnson.
Coach Michael Sandry said the team has a few young players but everyone played well.
“Our defence is very good,” he said. “Some of the senior blokes are playing in a new format I got them into and they’ll go ahead by leaps and bounds.”
Sandry singled out 15-year-old Toby Forrest as an outstanding player for the Wolves.
“He is going to fit into the side extraordinarily well,” he said.
The Wolves win continues a strong start to the season for the firsts, who had a win and a draw in their first two games for year.
The seconds team ran out winner over Bathurst Blues with a convicting 5-0 scoreline.
Goal scorers for Mudgee Wolves were Nathan Salomoni, who kicked two goals, and Jake Harding, Doug Bennett and Brandon Roth with one each.
“We have a new player, John Murray, who was named Man of the Match in his first game,” Sandry said.
“He did a great job in defence.
“This is a fairly young group and it great to see them come through into the senior competition.”
Sandry said both sides were under full strength, which limited their ability to substitute.
“But overall, I couldn’t be happier,” he said. “I think they’ll go ahead in leaps and bounds.”
