I have a 9 month old puppy called Pippa she has helped me through so many of my issues, she has got me out of my house and into the public. I started taking my dog to Mudgee’s so called dog park. What we have here is a fenced off park with no seating provided (all seats that are there have been donated by dog owners).
There is no running water, all the water at the park is in 2 water jerries that have to be filled at the netball courts and transported to the park, older people cannot lift the water jerries to fill up and risk injury in doing so.
There is no water bowl only a plumbers end cap that that all dogs have to fight to get a drink. All the dog owners are asking for is for the plumbing to be extended the 10m from the water point into the park itself, have a concrete water trough for all sized dogs can drink from.
We have approached the council who at one stage promised verbally to fix the park, but obviously now we are below a priority. Many people from all walks of life and social standings use the facility, we use it to get out of the house, use it to meet people, use it to conquer our fears of the outside world.
Please we aren’t asking for much, a few park benches with shade and running water for our much loved dogs.
