The Mudgee Dragons kept the hapless Lithgow Workmens Club Wolves premier league team winless in 2016 with a 38-16 victory in Lithgow on Sunday.

It was a clean sheet for the Dragons, who also came away with wins in league tag and Under 18s
In what was a very physical game for both teams, tempers flared at several points during the match, which saw plenty of big hits throughout.
Both teams came out firing however several errors from the Dragons gave the Wolves strong field position and it was only a matter of time before they capitalised on it.
Mitch Case didn’t hesitate to charge through the Mudgee defence and managed to find the line fifteen minutes after kickoff.
Josh Jones added the extras to give the Wolves a 6-0 lead.
It didn’t take the Dragons long to hit back, crashing over the line five minutes later.
A successful conversion meant the scores were all tied up until Mudgee again found the line and they pulled ahead as the game headed into half time.
Mudgee came out firing in the second half and it didn’t take the Dragons long to get some points on the board, finding the line just five minutes in.
The Dragons continued to run rampant, running in three more unanswered tries before the Wolves finally hit back with a try courtesy of the unstoppable Brendon West.
Workies’ Chris Rhodes managed to find the line again with three minutes to go.
Although Mudgee ran in a final try in the final minutes of the game, the final 16-38 score line was a more respectable one for the Wolves with Josh Jones kicking two from three to add the extras.
Consistent as always for the Wolves were Brendon West and Cory Willmott, with Sam Rushworth and Steve Lang also giving their all in what was in many aspects a much improved performance by the Wolves.
Best for Mudgee were Rota Setu, Nathan Orr and Ben Thompson who finished up the game with a hat-trick.
The Wolves will now travel to Orange to take on the Hawks on Sunday May 29, with premier league kicking off at 2pm.
