Rachel won the prestigious Art UnLimited Pro Hart Hanging Art Prize in 2014 with her image Unravelled.
She went on to receive a highly commended in same category in 2015 with her worked titled Fragile containers with beach collection.
Rachel completed a Visual Arts Degree majoring in printmaking and photography, but stopped making art until she moved to Mudgee and had time to revisit art.
“Lately, I have been using primarily oil paint on canvas or linen,” Rachel said.
“ I love the richness and boldness of oils.
“The process of using oils requires a great deal of patience as the paint can take days or even weeks to dry. For me this has been a good life lesson as I’m naturally impatient. I find creating with oils helps me slow down, focus and be present.”
Members of the public can meet the artist at Fairview Artspace at an afternoon session this Saturday, August 27, from 3-4pm. The exhibition is open until September 26.
