On Saturday Cargo hosts the elimination semi-finals. The Blue Heelers play the Grenfell Goannas in first grade while Trundle takes on Grenfell in both youth league and league tag.
The first grade clash has two evenly-matched sides doing battle. During the season they had one win apiece at their respective home grounds, suggesting the fact the Blue Heelers are at home on Saturday is a notable advantage.
Although Cargo’s form of late has been poor, their last win was in round 15 over Grenfell. Since then, the Goannas have had two wins and a narrow loss to minor premiers Trundle, showing some form.
Cargo revels in finals football though and will need a big performance against the huge Goannas forward pack, and strong attacking backline.
A tight game is all but guaranteed and Cargo will probably start as favourites. The day kicks off at 12.30pm.
On Sunday Peak Hill hosts the qualifying final semi-finals, where the Condobolin Rams will take on the Manildra Rhinos in all three grades – the Rhinos deserve credit for qualifying for the post season in all grades in their first season back competing.
The victor of the first grade game will play the Boomers in next weekend’s minor semi-final, with both sides in great form of late.
Condobolin’s last loss was to Cargo in round nine while the Rhinos’ last defeat was at the hands of the Rams in round 10.
They say forwards win big games, if so the Rhinos have the advantage so if the Rams match them up front Condobolin’s backs will be hard to stop.
Play at Peak Hill starts at 11.30am, first grade kicks off at 2pm.
