The Australian Superfine Wool Growers Association Mudgee Region has proposed a statue or monument to recognise the contribution of the wool industry to the region.
“Before there was coal and wine and tourism, there was wool,” Association president Murray Price told council on Wednesday.
“It would represent all types of wool – although we would like it to be Merino,” he said.
The Association has proposed Robertson Park as a site for the monument.
Unlike Goulburn’s Big Merino, Mr Price said the Mudgee wool industry monument would not need to be very big.
