Businesses and community groups have worked together over the past few days to help behind the scenes of the fire at Wuuluman, keeping volunteers feed while they battled extreme conditions.
Club Mudgee and the Mudgee CWA branch worked tirelessly to create meals – donating lunches, dinners and snacks.
Club Mudgee CEO, Maureen Hutchison said in a time of need, Mudgee always pulls together.
“On Friday, we fed around 60 volunteers in-house and packaged up 65 meals, include chicken mornay, spaghetti and fruit – to go out to the crew at the fire.
The Mudgee SES unit also helped out.
“They came and picked up the meals and took them out to the fire crews,” Mrs Hutchison said.
“We went over to Woolworth’s to get the fruit to package up for the lunches and Woolies happily donated all of the fruit for the firefighters on the ground.
“The community is known to pull together in these times – it’s just fabulous.”
