The seven-year-old trained by Gulgong’s Brett Thompson has won at the likes of Moonee Valley and Doomben in the past but is coming off a disappointing eighth-placed finish when returning from a spell at Cowra on January 8.
Slate On Edge, with prizemoney of more than $310,000, is the highest rated horse nominated for Saturday’s Parkes Services Club Australia Day Handicap (1400m).
The day’s feature event has also attracted a number of Dubbo trainers, including Peter Nestor’s Cool Ice, Darren Hyde’s Found At Last and the Garry Lunn trio Swiggin’, Oskastar, and Kingtantes.
