Ross Edward Gillan of Church Street, Mudgee, was also fined a total of $2100 and disqualified for six months, followed by a 24-month interlock period.
On August 29, 2016, Gillan was at the door of the Mudgee Medical Centre when he pushed his ex-partner down.
When a man nearby spoke up Gillan punched him in the forehead and continued throwing punches before witnesses intervened, the victim suffered swelling and bruising to his forehead and a cut ear.
On November 22, 2016, police were patrolling Church Street when they saw smoke coming from the intersection with Lisbon Road.
When they got closer they saw Gillan doing burnouts, before taking off down Lisbon Road and into Barigan Street where he almost crashed into a car backing out of a driveway.
He recorded a breath analysis of 0.182.
Gillan was serving a suspended jail sentence – due to expire in April – for assaulting and intimidating paramedics and then causing damage to the ambulance in 2015.
His solicitor, Ms Miles, said “he acknowledges that he’s well and truly blown this suspended sentence” and “it’s clear Mr Gillan has two major issues, firstly alcohol and secondly what he commits while intoxicated”.
Magistrate Bruce Williams said, “if you don’t take this opportunity you’ll be going away for a long time”.
