On Wednesday, the Mudgee Target Action Group arrested and charged a 47-year-old Gulgong man for serious drug matters.
At 3.10pm in the afternoon the man was stopped while riding a motorcycle on the Castlereagh Highway, entering Mudgee.
Police seized a large quantity of the drug ‘ice’ – estimated to have a street value of $14,000 – that police allege was destined for the streets of Gulgong.
The man has subsequently been charged with the possession and supply of the prohibited drug and will face Mudgee Local Court in respect to those charges.
Just days before, on March 6, the police also arrested a 30-year-old Mudgee male after he tested positive in a Random Drug Test and was found in possession of the prohibited drug ‘ice’.
“There’s a concern for any drug that we detect in the area, but because of the nature of the drug ‘ice’ it is a real concern when it gets to our streets,” Cameron Whiteside, Mudgee’s Detective Inspector, said of the seizure.
“The seizure was part of an ongoing investigation in recent times, it was aided by members of the public and now has resulted in an arrest.”
Inspector Whiteside urges those that may have information to come forward, because the aid of the public helps any movement in the war against ice.
“The cooperation and participation of the public is crucial, the vast majority of the public don’t think that they can be of assistance but any information that they have can help us in stopping crime.”
