The recent Easter Gulgong Arts Council member's exhibition held over ten days in Gulgong was a great success. It was well attended with over 250 visitors. 18 members participated, with displays of paintings, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, candles, scrapbooking, hand-made soaps etc.

The Peoples' Choice Award went to Chris Tomlinson's acrylic painting 'Roses, Roses, Roses'.

We would like to extend a big thank you to Dr. Hussain Alseneid, for his wonderful rooms, which provided the extra space such a comprehensive exhibition needed. Thanks are also due to all the exhibitors and volunteers for supporting GAC Easter Exhibition.

As well as winning the Peoples' Award in the Easter Exhibition, the versatile Chris Tomlinson recently held an Iridescent paint workshop over two days at Red Hill Environment Centre in March. There were nine participants and results can be viewed on Facebook.

The big event for this year will be 'Unearthed' 2017 Art competition/exhibition, on June 10 and 11 (June long weekend). This event hosted by G.A.C  is a yearly event, all part of the Henry Lawson celebrations and will be held at the Memorial Hall, Herbert St. Gulgong, open each day from 10am - 4pm.

Apart from the usual prizes for the Unearthed Competition, including the generous 'Clyde Oakley Memorial' open prize; Red Hill Environment Centre are sponsoring a separate competition with various interpretations of Henry Lawson, and this will be judged at the Unearthed.

On June, 10 Henry Lawson (Jim Howard impersonating) will visit, and the opening and presentations will be from 11am June 10.  Entries for these competitions close June 7. For inquiries email info@gulgong-arts.com or phone president Sue Bridgford 63742264, or secretary Toni Morrison 0488 741 860 or treasurer Chris Tomlinson 63741467. GAC monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month (except June) at R.S.L. Gulgong, at present the GAC boasts 60 members.
