This week, the region is raising money for the Cancer Council by hosting morning tea.
Now in its 24th year, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of Cancer Council’s leading fundraising events and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia.
This year, Cancer Council NSW hopes to recruit 11,100 morning tea hosts, including over 600 in the region and raise over $4.9 million across the state.
Thursday, May 24 marks the official date for the fundraiser, but participants can host a morning tea until June.
Westfund’s Mudgee Care Centre has taken it one step further by hosting morning tea every day this week.
“The generosity of the Mudgee community never fails to amaze me,” said Westfund Regional Manager Sarah Willoughby
Westfund will be matching the funds raised in Mudgee – dollar for dollar. Last year’s total contribution was $10,000 for the Cancer Council.
One Australian is diagnosed with cancer approximately every 5 minutes, the length of an average tea break.
