The result in 2016 was the Mudgee 10's White defeating the Mudgee 10's Red side in extra time, to make things even more remarkable.
Come 2017 and results continue to look similar - new players joined the Junior Dragons and other players have stayed in their respective teams ensuring that Mudgee remains a title favourite regardless of whether they're wearing red or white.
For the Whites, Bowen Price has come into his own this season and proven himself in the forward pack.
Demiah Aniuu and Gilby Brown continually put their hand up to help the side out, while the likes of Jack Nicholas, Cooper Gant and the McCarney boys are demanding the ball in order to help out their side.
Meanwhile the Reds have certainly hit the ground running after a disappointing end to the year.
So far, young Kai Fisher, TA Dermott and Logan Huia have definitely helped the Red's side become a 'premiership' threat.
Top that off with Mario Minnie running hard up the middle, George Mills in his first year showing plenty of promise on the wing and Will Stott has already got a decent try tally leading into the clash.
The match kicks off at Cahill Park at 10.30am, Sunday May 27.
