The concert is at Robert Oatley Vineyards on Saturday, November 4.
Mudgee is the traditional start of the annual ADOTG concert series and this year the local event also gets a special treat.
It will be the only one to feature the Hoodoo Gurus, who will headline the show.
Frontman Dave Faulkner said he’s looking forward to returning to the area after the band played the concert in 2008.
“I was told the other day it was nine years ago, but I thought surely it hasn’t been that long,” he said.
“It was great though, I remember it very well.
“This is the only [ADOTG] one we’re doing at the moment, we did a few earlier this year, this one came out the blue, and it sounded like a good idea.
“Mudgee’s been a while between drinks for us so we thought it would be fun to come back.
“[ADOTG concerts] are very well set up – they’ve got them down to a fine art now – and the audience are in a good mood and have had a good day when you get on stage.
“It’s a genuinely fun, relaxed place to be.”
And they’ll be returning to share a talented bill that will offer the crowds plenty of variety of styles.
“It’s a bit of a motley crew, we’re all different from each other, almost like a buffet,” he said.
“We’ve played with the Baby Animals before, and they’re always powerful and exciting.
“And we’ve played with Jebediah and we’re actually doing some shows with them beforehand on a tour called ‘Fistful of Rock’ around various capital cities in August/September.”
In their 30-plus years the Hoodoo Gurus have created many hit songs, including ‘What’s My Scene’, ‘Like Wow – Wipeout’, ‘Bittersweet’, ‘Come Anytime’, ‘Miss Freelove ’69’, ‘My Girl’, and ‘1000 Miles Away’.
Faulkner said that fans won’t be disappointed by their set in November and that they’ll be hearing those hit songs played in their ideal style: live.
“That way people know that they’re seeing the Hoodoo Gurus and not someone pretending to be us,” he laughed.
“We’re pretty much a known quantity at this stage, we’ve got a number of songs that are part of our and other people’s history, and we put a good helping of those in our set.
“They’re songs that are such a strong part of our identity, so they’ll be there.
“It’ll be us making them come alive and doing them the best way we know how – because they’re always better live anyway.”
Tickets for the Mudgee A Day On The Green concert go on sale at 10am on Monday, July 10, from Ticketmaster.
