With 63 entrants, a large pool of players challenged for supremacy in a tight race to the finish line.
The standings included the usual suspects but in new configurations, with this years’ winner, Emerson Maunder, taking the title with an impressive score of 7.5/8.
Mathew played a tough pairing and finished fifth, scoring 6/8 and Niki broke even on 4/8 finishing mid-pack. A valiant effort by all and a great result for our no.3 board, Emmerson.
In the Country Secondary Schools Comp, Kandos remains undefeated after three rounds of play.
There were some nerve racking moments and some excellent accurate play against Broken Hill High to secure a three point win, which means KHS has made it to the semi-final stage!
The games were played online and went until after school hours reaching almost the time control of three hours.
At games end, the players had an over the phone post-mortem of their games with the Broken Hill students.
They shared the highlights and blunders of their experience.
Everyone enjoyed this chance to relax after the tense atmosphere of the past few hours and the banter was a credit to the spirit of the teams.
Hats off to all the boys for their grit, determination and some great offence . Stay tuned for the next rounds outcome.
Congratulations to our five students who competed in the State Cross Country on Friday, July 21. They all ran extremely well in dry, but very cold conditions. Well done to Michael Duck, Riley Murphy, Tyron Reynolds, Jessica Reynolds and Felicity Evans!
