It is maintained by a band of passionate volunteers and depends on the support of the community for all its development.
Over recent months the centre has been a hive of activity as several projects funded by the generosity of local organisations have been completed.
Club Mudgee has purchased a new 25000 litre water tank to double the sites water supply, and Cudgegong Plumbing are installing it.
Mudgee Landcare, Mudgee CRT, Mid West Mustering, and our wonderful Green Army, all combined to create valuable native habitat by fencing off a hillside, building a drip irrigation system, and planting numerous trees.
The Kepco Bylong Project granted funds to create a separate, beautiful native habitat, complete with plants, fencing and irrigation.
Mudgee Telstra, Mudgee Solar Solutions and Moolarben Mine, together purchased the components for a complete solar energy system for the sites lighting, refrigeration and cooking.
Mid West Regional Council, Moolarben Mine and the Kepco Bylong Project have combined finances to restore the badly deteriorating roads to the site. This major work is expected to get underway later this year.
Finally, all these generous organisations will be recognised on the supporters wall which has been donated by Image Signs.
President of the Lake Windamere Under Canvas Camping Committee, Mike Rowlands said he is overjoyed with the recent developments.
“Once the last jobs have been finished, the site will be very busy once more with bookings from visiting schools and other interest groups who are already making enquiries,” he said.
“The site has been very much a community resource since its beginning and as our supporters board shows, many local businesses have financed our development and we want to express our great appreciation to them all”.
