Once on scene crews were faced with a small running grass fire which was quickly brought under control by firefighters.
The 2ha fire started as a result of property maintenance work in the area. Incidents such as this are a timely reminder to all landholders that although the grass is low with no significant rain for sometime now fires can and will start from the smallest of sparks.
Landholders are encouraged to have adequate firefighting equipment on hand wherever they may be on their property when conducting maintenance during the warmer summer months.
