Works of year 12 technology students will be on display at Petries Mitre 10 Mudgee from Monday, November 13. The display is part of the store’s School Trade Awards, which is open to Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos High Schools.
This year, a number of students from Mudgee High and St Matthew’s are represented.
There are a variety of pieces on display such as a lift top coffee table made from walnut and victorian ash, a corner entertainment cabinet made from iron bark and victorian ash, a small toy box made from cypress pine and pacific maple, an outdoor coffee table made from merbau, an acoustic guitar and stand made from spruce, mahogany, rosewood, bloodwood, sitka, casuarina, spotted gum, Australian red cedar, kalantas, claret ash and walnut and a ute tent with a metal base and canvas top.
The entries will be on display in store for two weeks before a presentation evening on Wednesday, November 22 at 6pm. The presentation night is open for anyone to attend.
The works will be put under the microscope by a panel of Petries local trade business owners. The piece that the judging panel names as the best entry will earn its maker a $300 Mitre 10 gift voucher.
There is also a people’s choice award which is open to the public to vote on. Anyone can drop into Mitre 10 and fill out a voting form during the time the pieces are on display, up until the presentation night. The student whose piece has the most votes wins a $100 Mitre 10 gift card. There is also a $50 gift card to be won for anyone who votes in the people’s choice award.
