Rylstone MPS Party
The Residential Aged Care Christmas Party was held for residents and family at the Rylstone Multi Purpose Service. Staff made everyone feel at home during the celebrations.
New Website
A garden party will be used to launch a new website/blog, www.kandoshistory.com created to promote the town of Kandos and provide a forum for its history. It has been established by local author Colleen O’Sullivan, who intends to write fortnightly blogs which focus on the history of our local area. Contributions are welcome. The garden party will be held on Monday, December 18 at 17 Rodgers Street, Kandos from 4-7pm, all welcome.
One hundred copies of “Streetwise: Finding History on the Streets of Kandos” by Colleen O’Sullivan, have been reprinted. Supported by a grant from the Royal Australian Historical Society, it sells for $25 and is available at Kandos Museum, Cottage Museum, Bridge Garage Newsagency and from the author. “Streetwise” has the biographies of many of the pioneers of Kandos and gives the history of each of the 40 streets and 25 parks and 18 subdivisions of the town.
Rotary Party
A great day, under the giant oak trees of Rylstone Showground, was the perfect setting for the Rotary Christmas Carnival. With music by local, solo singers, Kandos High School Band and the KR Choral Group about 4-500 people were kept entertained.
Lot of stalls, the chocolate wheel, jumping castle and face painting. Finally, to the children’s delight, Santa appeared handing out lollies packets. Rotary members were kept busy providing food for the large crowd and selling nearly one thousand chocolate wheel tickets. Rotarians were very pleased with the day.
Legacy Christmas
Last Friday, the Kandos Rylstone Legacy Organisation had a happy meeting to celebrate Christmas. Convening in the Kandos Hotel dining room for lunch, the group were visited by Mudgee North West Legacy representatives, Debbie Baskerville and Rodger Howard. The meeting discussed future bus adventures.
