January 7 is their fourth club event and publicity officer Ang Fittler is encouraging new racers to warm into 2018 by testing their skills in the new format.
“It’s an easier distance for beginners,” Fittler said.
“It’s not as daunting as what it would normally be.
“You can come along and run it with your mates or parents.
“I think it’ll be really popular and will make for a good morning.”
The two-person team can be a combination of any age, gender or experience levels and if you don’t have a partner, you’ll be paired with someone on the day.
This is the format:
Team Member 1
Start in transition and run to the pool.
Swim 150m (one and a half loops).
Ride 6km (four laps of our L-shaped course, closed to traffic).
Run 1km (one loop of the park).
Hand your timing chip to your team-mate (who must put it on their ankle).
Team Member 2
Swim 150m (one and a half loops).
Ride 6km (four laps of our L-shaped course, closed to traffic).
Run 1km (one loop of the park).
FINISH!
The main race will commence at 8am, followed by the Little & Big Devils and short-course events which will all be conducted under normal formats.
