From 4pm to 8pm, eight retail outlets and eateries will be transformed into live music venues.
The Live and Local concept, by Mid-Western Regional Council, brings together local businesses, musicians and the public for an event that creates opportunities for employment and cultural development.
Confectionary shop, Sweet Treats is among the list of unconventional venues that will host musicians either inside the store or directly outside the shopfront. Business owner Kerrie Robertson said she is excited to support a local event that generates social, cultural and economic value.
“Sweet Treats caters for everyone from the young to the young at heart and musicians will add to the atmosphere,” Ms Robertson said.
Folk performer Sam Kurtz said she was excited to perform to a new audience and see other musicians performing.
“We are fortunate to have many talented musicians in our region and I think an initiative such as this one, which promotes our local musicians, should be supported and encouraged,” Ms Kurtz said.
“[I’m looking forward to] the whole atmosphere, catching up with friends, listening to my fellow musicians and having the opportunity to participate myself.”
Live and Local on Church Street is grant funded through the Live Music Office.
Coinciding with the Mudgee Food and Drink Trail, Live and Local is a free non-ticketed event, held in or outside local retail outlets.
