After performing their lyrical duo at the Bathurst Eisteddfod and being awarded with second place as well as shining in group performances, 10-year-old Abbey and 13-year-old Lily were given the opportunity every dancer dreams of.
Adjudicators, Lucas Newland and Cassie Bartho of Brent Street Performing Arts in Sydney, had noticed the girls and recognised the talent they were host to, and offered both the chance to attend Brent Street Summer School in January on a full scholarship.
Being brought to tears, Abbey and Lily were lost for words.

“It was just so unexpected. Myself, the girls and their parents were all in pure disbelief,” Principal of Dream Dance Academy, Katie Fyfe said.
Abbey and Lily each attend 10 classes a week, as well as six eisteddfods a year.
Ms Fyfe said both girls are more than deserving of the scholarships for their drive and attitude towards dance.
“I couldn’t think of two more deserving dancers,” she said.
The awarding of such a scholarship is not only an achievement for the girls, but also for dance in Mudgee.
Ms Fyfe told it is often the case students from Sydney are offered these scholarships, however the professional adjudicators saw the girls to be worthy.
“I knew they were gifted but for professionals to recognise their talent, it’s really special.”
Abbey and Lily are said to follow in the footsteps of former peers who have gone on to become professional dancers and make a career.
“It’s just so special, and like a dream come true for the girls.”
