Chris joined in February 1977 as a front office receptionist before going on to be an on-air announcer and has also managed the accounts, ad production and selling commercials.
“We all have worn different hats over the years, we all have to with it being a small station,” she said.
Needless to say Chris has seen a number of changes in technology in radio during her time and seen how that has altered the job of presenting.
“When I started we used records, then it became CDs in the 90s through to now with everything being digital,” she said.
“It used to be very busy because you were cueing up the records ready for the next song, but now with digital it’s all just there for you on the screen.”
In an industry where people move around between stations a lot, Chris’ time at 2MG has made her not only a long-serving member of the station but also a long-term resident of her hometown.
“Mudgee is my hometown, people ask me ‘what has kept me here’ and I never know what to say,” she said.
“I just love it here, I’m very settled here.”
She added that, “no two days are the same in radio”.
“It’s the same but different, it’s difficult to explain, but even though you might be doing the same things what actually goes on is different.
“It’s always fresh.”
