The incident occurred between 5.30pm on Friday, June 29, and 7am on Saturday, June 30.
The vandals deliberately cut the wire boundary fence of the golf course on the Lions Drive side.
They drove an unknown motor vehicle onto the fifth green, causing considerable damage.
Mudgee Golf Club professional Peter Mayson said it was a senseless act that the club didn’t need.
“It’s disappointing in this day and age that someone would cut through the fence just to do some burnouts,” he said.
“But with more houses being built near the course there are more people around to see them and identify their vehicles.”
