"I love coming to Australia and working with the other acts is going to be pretty cool," she said.
"I love it here in Australia. It's just an amazing place. I usually come and do a few shows every 18 months or so."
Quatro will headline the summer of shows that stretch from Victoria to Queensland and said the tour will be a first for her as she normally travels to Australia by herself.
"I haven't done a tour with the other acts in Australia before but I have a feeling it's going to be a pretty amazing set of shows," she said.
Stopping off in Mudgee means a glass or two of wine for the seasoned performer as she brings a stripped back sound to the Red Hot Summer Tour concerts.
"I'm going back to basics on this tour, back to the songs that I first performed," Quatro said.
Quatro said it just felt right to go back to the beginning on this tour and said it was the people who came to see her that really pushed the direction of where she was headed with her music.
"It'll be my 50th year in the industry next year and this tour is about saying thankyou to everyone for being there for all these years. I just feel privileged to be able to do what I do," she said.
As part of her 50th celebrations, Quatro will release a four-disc special edition CD with all her greatest hits and air a documentary filmed during her one women show by the BBC back in September.
"I'll even be back to Australia in 2015 and it's set to be a really big tour," she said.
As for the Red Hot Summer Tour, Quatro said she was hoping to see as many fans who had come to see her before come out and see here - plus The Angels, The Black Sorrows, Shannon Noll and Russell Morris - perform in country towns all over the country.
"I get teenagers and I get people in their 70s come and see me perform. It's all about a continuation of the music I think, she said.
Asked if she was planning on retiring anytime Suzi, Quatro said she couldn't see herself stepping away from the music in the near future.
"I just can't see myself stopping. I just Really, really love performing. It's all about seeing people walk away after a show with a massive smile on their face," she said.
Quatro will work on a few of her personal projects over the next few months before she picks up her guitar and her band and heads off on the Red Hot Summer Tour come January 16.
