Dance students from across the region wowed the crowd at the Lawson Park Markets with a secret dance they had been planning for months, appearing from the crowd in small groups in order to finish Youth Week in style.
"The Youth Council contacted me about it a while ago and I thought it was such a good idea that I said yes.
"We've been rehearsing for a month now and it was a bit hard keeping it a secret but it really paid off," choreographer Grace Jones said.
The flash mob wasn't the only way the Mid-Western Council said goodbye to Youth Week, with hula hooping, a disco and a jumping castle bringing in the crowd before the flash mob finale.
Hula hoop artist Tahmour Bloomfield wowed the crowd with a bag full of hula hoop tricks and two dozen hula hoops got crowd members of all shapes, sizes and ages involved during the fun-filled morning. From the basic belly roll, to tricks involving jumping, spinning and multiple hoops, both kids and adults had some fun getting into the energetic sport as the morning continued.
"The day has just finished off a fantastic Youth Week for 2014," Virginia Handmeer from Mid-Western Regional Council said.
"It was just so exciting to see everyone getting involved in the flash mob and the hula hoops have proved to be a massive hit with kids of all ages," she said.
In conjunction with the hula hoops, there was a jumping castle for the younger ones who were a bit too small to properly take part and music was kept pumping though the speakers throughout the morning in an impromptu disco that had everyone up and dancing.
"The good variety of activities got everyone involved this year which was great. From the trivia night, to the Uno competition, and everything in between, a lot of students got involved and had some fun," Ms Handmeer said.
The flash mob will be available to view on Youtube in the coming weeks.
