The Startup Awards are conducted by entrepreneurial education institute, The Entourage, and recognise business excellence of Australia’s top entrepreneurs under 40.
The Lodge Group director, Joe Adendorff, said on Wednesday he was excited to have his team as a finalist in the Service Business of the Year category.
“This comes on the back of our Excellence in Small Business Award we received at the Central West Orana Business Awards earlier this year,” Mr Adendorff said.
“Over the last two-and-a-half years we have been building a brand with The Lodge - Mudgee and Gulgong Motel. We’re always looking for new sites and regions for future growth prospects. We’ve ticked many boxes and are kicking plenty of goals.”
The Service Business of the Year award “recognises a stand-out services based business that has demonstrated strong financial growth, and demonstrates significant growth potential.”
Should The Lodge Group win they will be awarded a free one-on-one coaching session with Young BRW Rich List Member, Dorry Kordahi, valued at $2000.
Mr Adendorff, 30, said the core of the business is purchasing and revitalising “average” performing assets. This includes run down motels, neglected blocks or struggling businesses.
Over the past two years the business has given a new lease of life to The Lodge - Mudgee and Gulgong Motel, refurbished seven townhouses and grown the Mudgee MudMap – a local tourism guide.
According to the Startup Awards, The Lodge Group’s overall revenue since its inception in 2012 has grown by more than 60 per cent year on the previous year.
Winners will be revealed at the awards’ gala night, on Saturday, August 2, at the Sydney Hilton Hotel.
