Their victory came at the regional Tournament of Minds competition at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst recently.
The tournament challenges teams to come up with solutions for a number of problems, showing teamwork, collaboration and creativity.
Participating students are from Years 5 and 6.
Teams were given one challenge six weeks in advance, as well as a spontaneous challenge that they had four minutes to solve.
Mudgee Public School principal, Alan Kerr, said: “The team had been working late for the past few Fridays after school on refining their presentation so their victory was very well earned”.
The victorious Social Science team have now progressed to the State Finals of the tournament, which will be held at the University of NSW in Sydney, on Sunday, September 14, 2014.
At the regional finals last weekend, Mudgee Public’s Language/Literature team was Highly Commended in their section.
