An L-Plater caught drink driving with no supervising driver, was fined $600 and disqualified for 12 months when he appeared in Mudgee Local Court last Wednesday.
Anthony Allester, aged 21, of Church Street, Mudgee, was charged with ‘Drive with high range PCA (Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol)’ and ‘Learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester’.
At about 11.15pm on Monday, August 18, 2014, police were patrolling Mortimer Street, Mudgee, when they saw a vehicle driving along the laneway from Byron Place and stop abruptly six metres short of the stop sign and line.
They followed the vehicle and stopped it in Church Street.
Allester, the only occupant of the vehicle, handed over his Learner’s Permit and told police “I’m gone, I’ve been drinking all day”.
The roadside breath test returned a positive reading and he was taken to Mudgee Police Station where a breath analysis of 0.150 was recorded.
Allester, who represented himself in court, told Magistrate Michael Allen that the incident was “a silly mistake” that he immediately regretted.
