Some research from local Kandos historian Colleen O’Sullivan shows that when the Gwabegar rail line to Rylstone was opened in 1884 a station at the current site of Clandulla was named Ilford, renamed Mornington in 1900, renamed Carwell in 1903, and finally renamed Clandulla in 1905.
Furthermore an 1884 Parish Map shows a village of Carwell, and a 1906 Parish Map shows that the village of Carwell had been changed to the village of Clandulla.
A newspaper article in September 1902 shows that there was a Clandulla public school, but was this at the current site of Clandulla? Was the village originally formed as part of the construction of the railway line? Or did it have earlier beginnings, and if so when and why?
