Kandos Museum, in partnership with Lithgow State Mines Railways (LSMR), is bringing the train back to Rylstone - the Rylstone Rambler.
The two groups have partnered with the Rylstone Kandos Show Society to bring the beautifully restored railmotor set 661-726 to the show.
Passengers will board the train at Lithgow for the stunning journey through the Capertee Valley arriving at Rylstone at 11am, perfect timing to take in all the fun of the fair.
“With our partners, we are thrilled that we have been able to re-open the track between Kandos and Rylstone for this special event, Kandos Museum Inc president Buzz Sanderson said.
“The line has been closed since 2004 and was last travelled by a railmotor in 1982.
“It took many hands to re-open the line: Paul Toole, our local MP, Mayor Des Kennedy, Michael Wilson and Tim Elderton from LSMR, Cara George from Mudgee Region Tourism Inc. and the support of Centennial Coal, John Holland, and of course, Transport for NSW.”
Member for Bathurst Paul said: “It’s great news that we have a train running out to the Rylstone Show and it was a pleasure to have been able to help in this project.”
The Rylstone-Kandos Show is one of the best country shows in NSW, with something for everybody, including wood chopping, horse jumping, a ute muster, tractors and machinery, chickens, cakes, biscuits and beer just for starters.

Shuttle tickets will be on sale at the Kandos Museum show stand and at Rylstone Railway Station on show day. Shuttle tickets $10 adult, $5 School Age. Pre-schoolers travel free but must be accompanied by an adult.
