He’s blessed babies, adults, ships, homes, motorcycles and a pink tractor but a hotel blessing will be a first for St John’s Anglican priest David Craig.

Father David will bless Windeyer’s Gold and Fleece Hotel next Sunday to cleanse the site.
“Nobody knows the full history of the pub, we know a lot of good things that have happened,” Father David said.
“In a little town like that the pub and the church are very important and it’s good when the two can be combined occasionally.”
The blessing ceremony that will involve prayers and holy smoke was the brainchild of hotel manager Di Phillips who wanted to unite the community.
“I believe when you get something blessed it’s about being grateful and we’re really grateful for what the village has given us,” Ms Phillips said.
“And it’s an opportunity for the village to congregate together which I think is the most important thing.
“The village has already lost the school so we really want to, as managers of the Gold and Fleece Hotel, be community minded and help all the little groups around us. Especially the church because that’s all the village really has left now. We’ve only got the caravan park, the general store, the pub and the church, so we really need to make sure that we don’t lose anything else.
“We want to try and build it up again rather than let it deteriorate.”
The Gold and Fleece Hotel blessing ceremony will be held at the pub in Windeyer on Sunday, February 28 at 11am.
The village’s monthly church service, that would otherwise be held in the church, will be held in the pub on the day.
