The Wolves took control of the game from the outset and 20 minutes into the match were six goals up.
“The boys played so well,” Sandry said. “It is extraordinary what they can come up with as a side when they are working together and they just destroyed them.”
For the Wolves, Josh Sandry scored seven goals, Aiden Young and Daniel Lowe both scored three, Jason Radford scored two and Nathan Salomoni and Reece Hill each scored one.
Sandry said the team was “depleted” at the end of the high scoring match, comparing the result to a 100-0 result in rugby league.
So far this season, the Wolves First have won all their matches except one in which the result was a two-all draw.
Sandry said a strength of the team was the mix of experienced and young players.
“The boys defensively are so good and know how to build their play,” he said.
“They work together well and if we keep 95 per cent of the team together we’ll be flying into the top competition next year.”
The Mudgee Wolves First meet Macquarie United at Proctor Park on Sunday.
The Mudgee Wolves seconds remain at the top of the Bathurst District Football fourth grade competition after a convincing 4-0 win over the Churches United Blues at Proctor Park.
“I think they started a little bit slowly but they came good 20 minutes into the first half and fired off four goals,” Sandry said.
“In the second half [Churches United], put the ball into the back of the net, but Mudgee did well to hold them out for the rest of the match.”
The Mudgee Wolves Seconds have not lost a game so far this season.
‘I think a lot of the team have played last year and they know each other well and are just playing good football,’ Sandry said.
“They are continuing to build on this and they are going to get better as the season goes on.
“But it’s important not to get too confident.”
