We have been a voice for the community, keeping you informed and fighting for the issues that concern you.
But like any other community, the Mid-Western Region has an insatiable need for immediate news.
It’s one of the reasons our Facebook page, with more than 6284 likes, is so popular.
It’s why we have to constantly adapt.
Which brings us to the change you would have noticed in today’s Mudgee Guardian.
The reason for the change is to be at the forefront of providing local news – increasing the volume of daily, live and online content and reaching beyond our traditional bi-weekly mindset.
But to make that happen, something had to give – and the time spent tied to a desk, labouring over the look of the printed newspaper, was the logical starting point.
Our new system, with greater automated layout, will free our editorial team to tell more stories as they happen rather than wait for the paper to be published.
New technology also allows our editorial team to report directly from locations around the region.
Journalists can post stories from areas such as Rylstone, Kandos and Gulgong, so news can appear on the website as soon as it happens.
The people delivering that content are just like you – Mid-Western Region residents who live in the region and care passionately about our community.
We all want to see the Guardian continue to tell your local stories, fight for your community and preserve the district’s way of life.
So I would urge you to ride the wave of change with us even if that means letting go of the “look” of the paper you have understandably grown familiar with.
At the end of the day, the Mudgee Guardian’s character isn’t about the layout of the paper.
It’s about what these technological changes allow us to share – the stories, the campaigns, letter writers, artists, sportspeople and community groups of the Mid-Western Region.
