The arrival of their mascot ARPY for the official launch of their program Wellbeing Positive Behaviour for Learning.
Balloons were bouncing around the Rylstone Public School with colours all around for the launch of their program.
School Principal Jodee Burcher introduced the schools new mascot ARPY, whose delightful costume was made by teacher Bev Balfoort and worn by Brittnay Burns.
What’s a party without cake! The school captains Max Suttor and Chloe Mackander with ARPY and the huge cake made for the occasion, made a great morning tea.
School principal Jodee Burcher explained that ARPY is actually a play on the name RPS (Rylstone Public School) with each letter standing for a positive behaviour -
ARPY
- A = Application
- R = Respect
- P = Perseverance
- Y = You're succeeding
“It’s a comprehensive 'whole child' program that takes several years to implement.
We have begun with introducing a Wellbeing Wall and upgrading our award structures.
“When we had our official launch with an ARPY cake, who should arrive but ARPY our mascot.
The kids had an absolute ball,” she said.
Around the World
Another exciting event coming up for Rylstone Public School is their Multicultural Day on Tuesday, September 20.
“On this day the school will celebrate the inclusiveness and diversity of our wonderful country.
Children will ‘travel’ to three countries during the day and then be involved in games from around the world in the afternoon.
“Children may dress up as a person from any country they like and we always have a grand parade of costumes.
It will be a fun learning experience for children to research and make their own multicultural lunch at home.
They can then bring it to school and we will discuss what everyone has to eat, where it comes from, how they made it.”
