The branch posted a ‘please help’ message on their Facebook page on Saturday night, to make 150 sandwiches for the fire crews on the Kains Flat blaze.
Within the hour, they had an oversupply of helpers.
CWA Mudgee Evening Branch Secretary, Claudia Wythes was overwhelmed by the support.
“We had quite the production line happening – with sandwiches, fruit, a drink and a couple of snacks for the crew members.
“This is just a small way that we can help all the hard working firefighters.”
“The CWA is really fortunate that we can contribute back to our community in this way.”
The branch thanked those that helped on their Facebook – “to those that answered the call out, I am sure you all had other things you should have been doing this evening. We put together 150 dinner packs for very appreciative firies, and all managed a smile and many supportive conversations.”
“We are proud to support our community today and for the next few days, stay safe everyone,” the post continued.
