The Tiaratahs opened their season’s account with a strong 36 – 10 win over the Fillies, while the Waratahs notched a 16-4 win in the men’s match.
Last year, Kandos Tiaratahs were Grand Finalists in their debut season, losing to SCU Yellow who were undefeated for the previous two seasons.
Tiaratahs Coach, Glen Osgood, is confident the girls will make it to the Grand Final again.
“We have lost a few players from last year, but we have picked up some really good new players and they have been really training hard.”
Glen utilised the trial match to closely observe his players in different positions and choose their final placement.
We have lost a few players from last year, but we have picked up some really good new players and they have been really training hard.
Emma Ashford was named Captain, and Angie Usher Vice-Captain.
Second time captain for the Waratahs, Nathan Annetts, said that he was enjoying working with a top bunch of boys and stated
“We are really coming together in our second season as a team.”
Nathan, who is also Captain of the Waratahs, chose John Madden and Michael Parsons as vice- captains.
Nathan asserts the reasoning behind his decision to state two vice-captains is that they have a “leadership” between the three men, “which works well and keeps everyone in check.”
The first regular game of the season will be held on Saturday, April 22.
