Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro named Lieutenant General Gillespie as government’s first Regional Infrastructure Coordinator.
He will advise government on how to deliver local infrastructure projects in the most efficient and effective way.
“We are spending unprecedented amounts on roads, railways, hospitals and schools… but we acknowledge that more needs to be done to ensure all communities are getting their fair share in a timely manner,” Ms Berejiklian said.
In 2015 government promised a third of the $20 billion poles and wires privatisation would be spent in regional NSW.
