Mudgee Region Tourism was announced as the winner for the Excellence in Innovation award at the 2017 Western NSW Business Awards for the regions hugely successful ‘Reset your senses in Mudgee Region’ campaign.
The campaign encourages visitors to escape their everyday lives in order to “reset their senses” in Mudgee’s unique surroundings, which include Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos.
Cara George, CEO of Mudgee Region Tourism, was proud of all of the work that went into earning the award.
“We’re extremely proud to have been awarded the winner of Excellence in Innovation.”
Aden Hotel Gulgong took out Excellence in Small Business and Double R Equipment Repairs Mudgee took home the trophy for Excellence in Business.
The awards were special for Mudgee and the region as a whole, Ms George said after the event weekend.
“I think that things like these wins – and we’ve had five from five wins in this twelve month period – shows how the campaigning is going for the region,” she said.
“It’s of huge importance for our town and it creates huge awareness, and it gives us a chance to continue to show people that Mudgee is closer than they think.
“We really are the preferred choice for an authentic country escape with great food and wine, rather than the Hunter Valley, and we are anecdotally getting that from our visitors.”
