Police from Orana Local Area Command have sent a ‘stark’ reminder to retail workers in the region to be on the lookout for a customer with a strange request.
Officers within the command have received multiple complaints from business owners and staff in Dubbo, and as far west as Trangie, about a male in his mid-30s seeking permission from staff to run naked through their shop.
“We understand from the descriptions given to us that it is the same person, and he walks into a shop and says he has lost a bet and has to run through the shop naked,” Orana LAC’s Inspector Ken Brisbane said.
“Usually the target is a store with a young female attendant working by herself, which can be confronting.
“We just ask that if this person does come into a business and make the request, that people deny it.
“He is described as being in his mid-30s, about 5’3” tall and of a solid build with short brown hair.”
“There have been some occasions where the man has been allowed to do it, and realistically we’d rather that he wasn’t allowed to do so.”
